Individual Therapy
Life brings unexpected challenges. Sometimes we need support to find our way through. Individual therapy gives you a safe space to heal, grow, and discover the path forward.
You don't have to handle everything alone. When anxiety feels overwhelming, grief weighs heavy, or relationships leave you confused, professional support can make the difference. Taking this step shows strength, not weakness.
Personal Counseling for Life's Biggest Challenges
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist serving Austin and Plano for over 15 years, I help people work through:
- Overwhelming anxiety and persistent sadness
- Loss of loved ones and overwhelming grief
- Relationship problems that keep repeating
- Low confidence and unclear life direction
- Big life changes that feel scary
- Daily stress that never seems to end
- Past hurts that still cause pain
- Childhood experiences affecting you today
- Work stress taking over your life
- Questions about faith and meaning
Areas Where I Bring Special Expertise
I support people through many different struggles. These three areas are where I focus most of my energy and training:
Getting Through Divorce - Before, During, and After
Should I Stay or Should I Go? This question keeps you up at night. You don't have to decide alone. We'll work together to find:
- What you really need to feel happy
- Why the same problems keep happening
- Whether your marriage can still be saved
- How to move forward either way
Surviving the Divorce Process Once you've made the choice to divorce, new challenges appear. I help with:
- Handling intense emotions that come and go
- Protecting your kids while co-parenting
- Creating boundaries that actually work
- Building confidence in who you're becoming
- Getting ready to date again someday
Recovery from Toxic People and Relationships
Some people drain your energy and make you doubt yourself. This might be a spouse, parent, boss, or friend. These relationships leave lasting damage. Together we'll focus on:
- Making sense of what really happened
- Spotting when someone tries to control you
- Getting your self-worth back
- Learning to set limits that stick
- Stopping the pattern of toxic relationships
- Building connections that actually support you
Finding Your Way Through Midlife Changes
I changed careers from business executive to therapist, so I know how scary and exciting big changes can be:
- Switching careers or finding new meaning
- Adjusting when kids leave home
- Growing in your marriage or ending it
- Remembering who you are beyond your roles
- Building the life you actually want
- Managing fear when starting something new
Therapy That Honors Your Faith
If your Christian beliefs matter to you, I offer counseling that respects your values:
- Combining biblical truth with healing tools
- Looking at how faith guides your choices
- Working through spiritual doubts safely
- Creating space to explore your beliefs
How Individual Therapy Works With Me
My approach feels different because:
- You're the expert on your own story
- We solve problems together as a team
- I use both training and real-life experience
- You'll get tools you can use right away
- Your beliefs and values always matter
- You'll find acceptance without judgment
What Happens in Your Sessions
Every person's needs are different. Some people come for help with one specific problem. Others want deeper healing that takes more time.
Whatever brings you here, you'll discover:
- A private space where you can be yourself
- Support that doesn't judge or criticize
- Real strategies that work in daily life
- A partnership in finding answers
- Respect for what matters most to you
Taking the First Step
Whether you're facing one of my specialty areas or another life challenge, you don't have to struggle alone. That first phone call might feel hard, but you've already shown courage by thinking about getting help.
Professional support can change everything. You deserve to feel better.
Ready to start? Let's talk during a free 15-minute consultation about how therapy can help your specific situation.
Initial Phone Consult
15-20 Minutes: Let's start by discussing what's bringing you to therapy. Whether you're dealing with grief, anxiety, relationship issues, or any other concern, this free consultation helps us both determine if we're a good fit to work together on your healing journey.
50 Minute Individual In-Person
50 Minutes: Imagine having a safe space where you can say what's really on your mind—to process grief, explore relationship patterns, work through anxiety, or navigate life's challenges without judgment. Individual therapy is about discovering your strength, finding new perspectives, and creating positive change. It's about possibilities and feeling better.
80 Minute Individual In-Person
80 Minutes: Sometimes healing requires more time, especially when working through complex issues like trauma, major life decisions, or deep-seated patterns. These extended sessions allow us to go deeper, practice new skills, and make meaningful progress without feeling rushed.
110 Minute Individual In-Person
110 Minutes: If you're working through particularly difficult circumstances—such as complex grief, trauma recovery, or major life transitions—these two-hour sessions provide the time needed for deep work. Many clients prefer meeting every other week for these intensive sessions, finding them more productive than weekly shorter appointments.
